FAQ's

Chances are, if you’re reading this you are considering or have already completed at least 25 half marathons and are on the way to 100 half marathons ... so please read on!

How does the 100 Half Marathon Club UK work?

Well, first you need to complete the required number of half marathon distance running events for the level you are aiming for and then you can join.

  • Entry Level Member - 25 Half Marathons Complete
  • Associate Member - 50 Half Marathons Completed
  • FULL Member - 100 Half Marathons Completed

  • Running multiple half marathons and aspiring to run 100 is no small undertaking but quite literally anyone can achieve this if they set their mind to it and that includes you!

What are the differences between the membership levels?

The aim of this club is to be inclusive, inspiring and encouraging to all runners at the various levels in their own running journey.

Entry Level Member - 25 Half Marathons Completed
When you have competed 25 half marathons you can submit your list for vetting and subject to approval you will be able to order the 'bronze' level medal.

Associate Member - 50 Half Marathons Completed
When you have completed 50 half marathons you can submit your list for vetting and subject to approval you will be able to order the 'silver' level medal. You will also be allocated a membership number and effectively become an associate member of the club. (NOTE: the club is aiming to become a UKA affiliated club which means that when done, you will be able to become affiliated to UKA through this club and receive additional affiliated benefits - TBC)

FULL Member - 100 Half Marathons Completed
When you have completed 100 half marathons you can submit your list for vetting and subject to approval you will be able to order the 'gold' level medal. If you have not already joined at associate level, you will be allocated a membership number and effectively become a full member of the club. (See note above, in associate member paragraph, re UKA club affiliation).

At full membership level you are entitled to purchase and wear club kit.

How do I get one of the medals and club kit when I've done the running bit?

You will need to submit a list of your events as proof of completion (see below). Then, once approved, all you need to do is order your medal type and club running top in our online shop.

Do I need to submit a list of my events and where do I send it?

    Yes you absolutely do.

There is a specific excel template to use which can be downloaded from our homepage - https://www.100halfmarathonclub.co.uk/ - please note all cells need to be completed using the format of the spreadsheet - for example date must be DD/MM/YYYY and time 00:00:00

As a minimum, your list MUST include the event date / official event name and your finish time. If you have the links to the results that's ideal but not a requirement as we can usually find those.

Please email your list to 100HalfMarathonClubUK@gmail.com and we'll do the rest. You'll hear back from us pretty quickly and we'll arrange to get you your medal, and, depending on your membership level, your club kit.

    Running 100 Half Marathons is a very serious undertaking and as such you have to prove you've done the running bit to get the bling and club kit - which, of course, leads onto the question of what counts;

What counts as a half-marathon event for 100 Half Marathon Club UK purposes and what can I put on my list?

We're aiming to keep this really simple as we're not advocates of creating rules for the sake of rules, and then more rules to create exceptions to those rules, and then some extra rules to explain those rules, and then a couple more rules which even we don't understand.

Here's a summary of the key rules:

    • Only official events / races count (not training runs)
    • Distances - a half marathon is 13.1 miles. (The distance that counts is the distance that's advertised, not the distance on your GPS).
    • Races that are greater than 13.1 miles but less than 25 miles can be counted as a single event. For example a 20 mile race can be counted as one event for 100HMC purposes.
    • For avoidance of doubt; 26 mile LDWA events, any 26.2 mile marathon events and ultra distance events, in fact any event, advertised above 25 miles in distance cannot be counted as these are deemed to be a different discipline.
    • 15 starters and 10 finishers with results available.
    • Road or trail - any number of each is fine or all of one and none of the other.
    • The official event must be open to entry to the general public for at least 14 days before the event itself.
    • Timed Events can be counted as long as the required distance is completed within the parameters of the timed event and results published.
    • Staged races - if the individual stages are greater than 13.1 miles and less than 25 miles, have a separate set of results published for each distance / day then they count individually - doesn't matter if you can't enter the days separately - you still did a half marathon.
    • Virtual running events (unless completed at an attended / organised event), cannot be counted.

What if I've completed an event and I don't think it fulfils one of the criteria or I'm not sure?

Simple - just ask us! We're all about 'inclusion' and we reserve the right to use common sense and good judgement to decide what counts. If you entered and completed an event in good faith and can demonstrate this, then chances are it counts for 100HMC purposes.

When I've already submitted my first list - how do I add / submit further events?

Simply add each new event to the bottom of your spreadsheet and then at certain intervals resubmit the whole spreadsheet via email (as above, see 'submitting my list'). Please note - you don't need to submit results one at a time for vetting. If you are working towards your 100th HALF Marathon we suggest submitting about 5 events prior to each key milestone, so at say 45 half's completed (5 before the 50 for silver membership) and 95 half's completed (so 5 before the magic 100 milestone). Once you have reached 100 HALF Marathons we suggest submitting your list every 10 to 25 events thereafter.
